In 2015, the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings placed Humboldt-Universität
among the global top 50 (position 41). On the competitive front in Germany, its international,
interdisciplinary research and teaching focus has secured Humboldt-Universität a leading
position in the Excellency Initiative of the German national and regional governments. HU
scientists research socially relevant topics and challenges of the future and convey them to the
public. Humboldt-Universität invests all its zeal in being a place of ground-breaking research and
teaching. Its aim is to promote young talents and to benefit society as a whole outside the
Humboldt University of Berlin’s new Master’s Degree in Open Design required a new way
of managing students and their progress. Being taught in two universities across the globe,
the platform is to simplify the day-to-day administration and make learning process
diverting. It also has to integrate with two different rating systems, varieties of student
choices and sundry bureaucratic requirements.
The platform was developed with the Cluster of Excellency "Image Knowledge Gestaltung.
An interdisciplinary Laboratory" at the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Kulturtechnik of the
Humboldt University for an interdisciplinary international master degree
program Open Design.
